According to Martin's Toyworld owner Derek Hintz, the Jitter Ring is a big seller in Rotorua, and currently - in the lead-up to Christmas 2011 - is the store's biggest individual selling line!
Here's an extract from an article in the Rotorua Daily Post dated November 2, 2011, and titled: "Top 10 kids' gifts for Christmas (update)".
And while the Toyworld top 10 toys are bound to be big sellers this Christmas, Mr Hintz said it's not always the flashest and most expensive that were the most popular.
"Our biggest seller at the moment is the Jitter Ring," he said.
"There's been a huge craze this year. A lot of what we're selling are to parents re-living their childhood. They show their kids how to use them."
He said it was the store's biggest individual selling line and once they had sold the three left in store they wouldn't be able to restock until December as the supplier had also run out.

We spent two hours at Toyworld in Napier demonstrating the Jitter Ring chatter ring, and had a great time sharing moves and chatter ring tricks with both old skool and new players.
Kyle was a bit tired on the day, having just completed 5 days of Rugby as part of the Wairoa team competing in the 2011 Wakely Shield tournament in Taradale, Hawkes Bay.
Well done Kyle, and a big thanks to the staff of Toyworld Napier, and to all the enthusiastic chatter ring players we met.
This TV commercial will air nationwide on TV2 for several weeks commencing August 2nd, 2011. The chatter ring video features Slinger Kyle and was filmed in New Plymouth on a cold day in mid-July. As the ad says, the Jitter Ring high performance chatter ring is NOW available at leading toy outlets throughout New Zealand, including The Warehouse, Farmers, Toyworld and many independent toy stores.

Extract from Southland Times article: Southern film-makers shoot to success in 48-hour production
Forty-eight hours of frantic writing, travelling and filming has turned into silverscreen gold for a group of Southland film-makers.
The production crew known as Rabies Babies has claimed top spot in the regional section of the V 48 Hours film competition.
Their work, titled Chatter, centres on the fictitious story of a policeman who invents the fabled chatter ring, a circular hoop with spinning and loud nuts, and his attempts to patent and market it.
The film's producer Anneke Campbell said the seven-minute film had to meet specific criteria, most unveiled just before the stopwatch started.
It needed to be based on a fad, include the line "what have you got" and end with a freeze frame.
The story, acting and the finished product won favour with judges, securing best film, direction, script, actor, use of a character and best use of the required line at an awards ceremony in Dunedin on Friday. "Once it was done we thought we had a shot but it was a great response," Ms Campbell said
